    Of Sports" Viewers In '61

    The late Jim McKay is being called the “most respected and admired sportscaster of his generation,” the “personification of class and style” who “brought a reporter's eye, a literate touch, and above all a personal humanity to every assignment.” He is being remembered as the “founding father of sports television,” an “iconic figure in sports media” and “the most respected and admired broadcaster, if not the most important, during the first 50 years of sports on television.” He was “the Murrow of sports" who “did more for sports broadcasting than any other."
