Pump You Up: Twins Running Tix Discount Tied To Average Gas Price
Published June 2, 2008
![]() |
The Twins, running on empty at the gate, are discounting tickets with an eye toward soaring gas prices. Beginning today, a program called "Tanks from the Twins" will let ticket buyers score a discount keyed to the national average for the price of a gallon of gasoline. The amount of the ticket discount will adjust each Monday. During that week, tickets in specified Metrodome sections purchased for any game this season will be discounted by the price of a gallon of gas. So, if the average price is $3.93 per gallon, the ticket price will be cut by that much. Should the cost of a gallon of gas rise, so would the cut-rate on a ticket. Twins attendance is down 10% from last year, with the team averaging 24,760 fans per game, down from 27,568 at the same time in '07.
