Facility Notes

In Sacramento, Ailene Voisin writes about the NBA and Cal Expo agreeing Wednesday to pursue a new arena deal for the NBA Kings, "For the first time since a new arena concept was floated, the parties appeared genuinely committed to resolving two of the region's most problematic issues: solving the financial dilemma at Cal Expo and replacing creaky Arco Arena, all without approaching voters about a new tax." The critical question is whether Moag & Co. CEO John Moag, a consultant for the NBA on the Kings' arena efforts, can "attract the high-end developers needed for a joint public-private venture of this size." Voisin: "Small steps. Massive project. Finally, a start" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 5/23).

NOTES: The NLL Boston Blazers have signed a deal to play their home games for the next three seasons at the TD Banknorth Garden, starting with eight contests during the '09 campaign (Blazers)....The Astros for every Thursday regular-season home game at Minute Maid Park will sell $35 all-you-can-eat tickets, which include unlimited hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, nachos and soda (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 5/23).
