    Documents Show Yankees
    Reaching Record Revenue
In a rare yet revealing look inside a team’s finances, the N.Y. DAILY NEWS obtains documents that not surprisingly show the Yankees as a “formidable cash-generating operation.” The papers indicate the team brought in a record $188M in gate receipts last year, a 20.5% increase over the '06 season. That compares to total gate receipts of $122M as recently as '04. The documents also show that when factoring in other revenue streams, Yankee Stadium took in more than $319M in '07. Meanwhile, the Yankees and Nike agree in principle to a five-year sponsorship agreement set to begin in '09, the team's first season in the new Yankee Stadium. The cash and product deal ends the team's historic 11-year relationship with adidas.
