WTA Tour Begins Production Of Global Ad Campaign In Rome
Published May 15, 2008
The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour last weekend in Rome began production of its new global ad campaign, which will involve more than 30 players and portray them as modern-day superheroes. The film shoot, directed by Matthieu Mantovani, involved eight of the top 10 ranked players for a spot that will debut June 19 at the Tour's Wimbledon Player Party at Kensington Roof Gardens in London. Maria Sharapova, who previously had denounced the Tour-mandated shoot on her Web site, participated in the filming. The campaign, first reported by SportsBusiness Journal, will include print and TV ads and is designed to promote the Tour's current and future stars and their yearlong race to the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships, to be held this year in Doha, Qatar (THE DAILY).
