In DC, John Scheinman reports Magna Entertainment Corp. (MEC) has fired Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) President CHRIS DRAGONE, effective after this weekend's Preakness Stakes. MEC in November hired Dragone to replace former MJC President LOU RAFFETTO. Former Cloverleaf Enterprises CEO TOM CHUCKAS, who since May 1 has been working as an adviser to MEC Chair FRANK STRONACH, will replace Dragone. Stronach: "Dragone, he was a nice fella, but it might have been maybe too much for him." Scheinman notes the MJC "suffered a disastrous winter at Laurel Park in [Dragone's] only full meet as president as total wagering fell 24.7[%]" (WASHINGTON POST, 5/14).
FRANCHISES: The NFL Cardinals promoted Dir of College Scouting STEVE KEIM to Dir of Player Personnel, Area Scout MALIK BOYD to Regional Scout where he’ll oversee the Western U.S. and DON CORZINE to Area Scout. Corzine was the team’s rep for the National Football Scouting Service. The club officially announced the dismissals of Area Scout BILL DEKRAKER and Pro Scout RASHAAN CURRY, while Pro Scout JIM STANLEY is expected to retire at the end of the month (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 5/13)....The AHL Worcester Sharks named Rays Regional Group Sales Rep JOSEPH FELLINI Dir of Ticket Sales (Sharks).

Kathman will be the business owner for AP Sports with responsibility for driving the strategic and financial growth of the new segment (AP)....Chicago-based rEvolution named KENT THOMAS VP/Strategy Group. Most recently, Thomas was CMO for Just Marketing (rEvolution)....Sports Shares Atlanta named Philips Arena Senior Dir of Premium Seating TIM STOLZ VP/Sales (Sports Shares)....Buffalo Communications named DAVID GRIFFITH PR Specialist (Buffalo Communications).
