SI Partners To Create Fantasy Football Game On Facebook
Published May 5, 2008
SI Group has reached an agreement with S.F.-based Citizen Sports Inc. (CSI) to "develop and promote sports-related Web content," including a fantasy football game to be played on social networking site Facebook, according to Ben Worthen of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. As part of the deal, CSI will "develop the software for the fantasy game," while SI will "sell advertising to accompany the game." SI also will "make articles by its writers available to players." The game is expected to launch in July. SI Digital VP & GM Ken Fuchs: "We want people to come to our site, obviously. But we recognize there's an opportunity to reach people where they interact." CSI CEO Mike Kerns said that 4.5 million Facebook users "already participate in fan communities that his company created for the site, giving it an immediate audience for the fantasy game" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 5/5).
