    CBS' Tony Petitti Leaving
     To Run MLB Network
CBS is losing one of the top producers in the sports industry, as Tony Petitti is leaving to run MLB Network, which will debut next spring. The move becomes effective June 1 and gives Petitti the opportunity to oversee the operations at the upstart net. A source said Petitti was a “strong number two” behind CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus, but a leadership role likely was not something that would present itself at CBS under the current structure. Petitti is one of the most well-respected producers in the field, having earned five Emmy Awards with the net. Meanwhile, MLB Senior VP/Broadcasting Chris Tully is expected to be tapped as COO of the league’s TV venture, reporting directly to Petitti. Also, MLB has hired executive search firm Spencer Stuart to find a CEO for the network.
