Game On: Beckham, Ballack Among Stars In New Adidas Campaign
Published April 22, 2008
adidas today is launching in Germany its '08 soccer ad campaign, in which soccer players visit the national soccer teams from some of the world's smallest countries in a film project titled "Dream Big." The campaign includes TV, digital, mobile, print and retail components, all guiding consumers to the campaign's centerpiece -- a 12-episode Web series at www.adidas.com/football. The first TV spot will debut Saturday in Germany, and the media efforts will expand into Asia, Europe, Africa and the U.S. and continue throughout the summer to coincide with the UEFA Euro '08 tournament (adidas). In Manchester, Mark Sweney reported the campaign features MLS Galaxy MF David Beckham, Liverpool FC MF Steven Gerrard, Arsenal F Robin van Persie, Chelsea MF Michael Ballack and AC Milan F Kaka. Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho provides the voiceover for adidas' 60-second spot, which will run on TV and online internationally. The campaign, via 180, Amsterdam, "aims to provide an antidote to the hype that will surround" Euro '08 (GUARDIAN.co.uk, 4/21).
