The NBA Playoffs begin the weekend with a bevy of intriguing matchups, and if the two months turn out to be anything like the regular-season, NBA execs certainly will be pleased with the outcome. Ratings are up on all three TV partners, and the league reaches its third-highest regular-season total attendance figure ever. Meanwhile, it is hard for even the most die-hard NBA fan not to look forward to what may lie ahead in June. The Celtics and Lakers, unquestionably the two marquee teams in the league, are both the top seeds in their conferences and could be destined to meet in the Finals for the first time in 21 years. An ABC exec even says, “Of course we want Lakers-Celtics. There’s nothing else. There’s no second-best scenario.”
