Drive For Show: Zach Johnson Agrees To Two-Year Deal With BMW
Published April 8, 2008
Mercedes Benz may be the new provider of courtesy cars at Augusta National, site of this week’s Masters, but '07 champion Zach Johnson will be pulling up Magnolia Drive in the new BMW X6. A source said Johnson agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the German car manufacturer but will not sport the BMW logo in competition, nor will he appear in TV or print ads. BMW, title sponsor of one of the four FedEx Cup playoff events, is expected to leverage the relationship through corporate appearances.
Financial terms were not available. Johnson bought a BMW M3 after joining the PGA Tour in '04 and an M5 model after winning the '07 Masters.
SILVER SURFER: Former U.S. Open winner Geoff Ogilvy, who wore gold-colored Puma golf spikes last year at The Masters, will be outfitted in silver shoes and apparel during at least one Masters round this week. The gear is part of a special edition line designed, in part, by European Tour golfer Johan Edfors and actor Luke Wilson. Edfors wore camouflage Puma spikes last year at the PGA Championship.
LPGA DEALS: LPGAer Brittany Lincicome has signed a sponsorship deal with HomeBanc to put the logo of the Southeastern bank on her hats and shirts. She also will be used in promotions. Meanwhile, Crystal Light has signed LPGAer Paula Creamer to be part of the company’s online health and wellness effort and other charitable initiatives.
