Launch Scrapped: PGA Tour Playoff Ad With Clemens, Singh Pulled
Published April 4, 2008
The PGA Tour’s playoff promotion spot featuring Vijay Singh and former MLBer Roger Clemens will never air, according to a well-placed source. Tour execs made the decision to shelve the commercial, filmed late last year, in the wake of the Mitchell Report, and subsequent Congressional hearings into alleged steroid use by Clemens. The ad campaign, which features other unconfirmed athletes and golfers discussing the playoffs in their respective sports, will break in late June just weeks before the PGA Tour commences its first drug testing program. The PGA Tour would not comment on the issue.
