Quote of the Day

"There was some discussion about maybe one of the rings was too big. I threw out the fact that it was a big win, it was a huge win, so the ring should be designed accordingly."

-- Giants C Shaun O'Hara, on the team's Super Bowl XLII rings (NEWSDAY, 4/2).

  • Walsh Makes No Promises At Knicks Intro

Donnie Walsh "presented himself as the antisavior" at yesterday's press conference introducing him as Knicks President of Basketball Operations. "I'm not the great new hope," he said, stressing that rebuilding the franchise will take time. But he is clearly in charge, reporting directly to MSG Chair James Dolan, who indicates Walsh will have complete control over all basketball operations. Walsh "was honest and as open as he could be" in his dealings with media yesterday, foreshadowing a possible new media policy that will be "more open, more accessible, but at the same time protects'' the media and players. A clear loser in the move appears to be MSG President Steve Mills, while the jury is still out on Knicks coach Isiah Thomas' future.
