- Many bloggers thought the opening of the new ballpark marked the beginning of Nationals baseball in DC. They felt as though the team was on rent from Montreal; but with a ballpark of their own, the team now belongs in the nation’s capital.
- Bloggers were impressed with the ballpark's many bells and whistles, including “green” facilities, easy entrance from public transportation, video game stations, and the ability to bring in food from home.
- Several fans felt the ballpark was an uninspired, carbon copy of other recently built stadiums around MLB.
