Sony Ericsson Marketing Chief Dutta To Resign From Company
Published March 27, 2008
Sony Ericsson Corporate VP & Head of Global Marketing Dee Dutta at the end of March will resign after six years with the company, according to Mike Beirne of BRANDWEEK. Dutta's departure was disclosed on the eve of the first match of the '08 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, an event whose sponsorship Dutta was "instrumental in brokering." Dutta did "not specify reasons for his departure." Dutta said in a statement, "I am very proud of the achievements that my team and I have made in growing the brand and look forward to the next challenge in my career." During Dutta's tenure, Sony Ericsson became the title sponsor of the WTA Tour, and that affiliation was "parlayed into the Sony Ericsson Open," the annual 12-day event that hosts players from both the WTA and ATP Tours. Dutta's replacement has not been named (BRANDWEEK.com, 3/26).
