SNY Debuts Two Half-Hour Shows To Compete With YES, MSG
Published March 25, 2008
SNY yesterday debuted two 30-minute shows, "The Wheelhouse" (5:30-6:00pm ET) and "Loud Mouths" (6:00-6:30pm ET), following the net's "Daily News Live,'' according to Bob Raissman of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. "The Wheelhouse" features Sirius Satellite Radio's Scott Ferrall and ESPN Radio 1050 N.Y.'s Brandon Tierney in a nightly "nine-inning" debate, while "Loud Mouths" features WFAN's Chris Carlin and Sirius' Adam Schein in "verbal battle." SNY Exec Producer Curt Gowdy Jr.: "We needed and wanted a faster-paced lineup (of shows). We want strong opinions. We want debate. We want characters in conflict." Raissman reported the new lineup is a strategy designed to "further differentiate its product from the offerings" of YES Network and MSG Network. Gowdy: "We are in a very different position than the other [RSNs] because we are competing in the New York market. We have to adjust our programming to make our network a destination point" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 3/23).
