USA TODAY's Steve DiMeglio noted a "dozen media outlets, many from South America," this week are covering Colombian PGA Tour golfer Camilo Villegas at the WGC-CA Championship in Miami. South America-based media outlets covering Villegas will include Revista Golf Style Argentina, Golf Digest Mexico, El Nuevo Herald, Univision, AmericaTV and Telefutura. City TV in Bogota will broadcast the final two rounds, with a "household reach of 2.5 million" (USA TODAY, 3/19).
YES: YES Network will not renew its “Ultimate Road Trip” series for a fourth season, and instead will launch three new original shows. Included on the new slate is a 30-minute show featuring Yankees manager Joe Girardi, set to air on Sundays throughout the MLB season, and “Sportslife: NYC,” a series focusing on N.Y.'s sports culture set to premier April 30. Both of those shows will be available in HD. The net also will launch “YESterdays,” spotlighting old Yankees personalities (MEDIAWEEK.com, 3/17).
NOTES: FSN K.C. plans to produce 88 of its scheduled 140 Royals telecasts in HD this season, "almost three times as many" HD telecasts as originally projected. FSN K.C. GM Jack Donovan said that the net "will use the high-tech X-Mo slow-motion camera for many of the telecasts" (K.C. STAR, 3/18)....WPEN-AM in Philadelphia will become ESPN Radio 950 starting April 1 (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 3/20).
