Virginia, DC Partner With MLB To Sell Nationals Park Lotto Tix
Published March 20, 2008
Virginia and DC are selling a $2 scratch-off lottery ticket sanctioned by MLB and the Nationals featuring an artist’s rendition of Nationals Park, according to Dick Heller of the WASHINGTON TIMES. This marks the first time two jurisdictions “simultaneously will peddle tickets” featuring the same team. The tickets will pay out anywhere from $2-5,000. Fans also can submit “nonwinning tickets via Internet, text message or snail mail to a ‘second-chance’ drawing for Nationals merchandise and tickets.” Some of those seats will be “in the presidential suite behind home plate.” The tickets will go on sale March 27. The drawing in Virginia will take place May 27, while DC will hold drawings on May 14 and August 28. One-third of ticket-sale proceeds “goes toward funding education programs in [DC] and Northern Virginia” (WASHINGTON TIMES, 3/20).
