March Madness: "Bracketology" Comes To The ATP Tour
Published March 18, 2008
The ATP Tour will introduce the ATP Bracket Challenge Circuit around the men's draw in next week's Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, according to Jerry Magee of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Fans "filling in the draw perfectly ... would receive a trip to the ATP's season-ending final in Shanghai or to the ATP event of his or her choosing." Brackets for the 96-player field can be found on ATP.com. A season-long contest involving all eight remaining ATP Masters Series events this year will see the top-ranked contestant receiving $1,000 worth of Penn/Head products and a trip to the Shanghai tourney. The second-place winner will receive $500 worth of paraphernalia, with $250 in product going to the third-place winner. ATP Senior Editor Greg Sharko said that the Bracket Challenge "was tested during the 2007 season at the tour's stop in Cincinnati." None of the approximately 25,000 entries were filled out perfectly (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 3/18).
