In Chicago, Lewis Lazare reports Frito-Lay today is expected to announce it is pulling the Tostitos and Lays accounts from Element 79, Chicago, and "reassigning them." Tostitos is expected to go to Goodby Silverstein, S.F., which last month "took the Propel fitness water account from Element 79" and also handles Frito-Lay brands Doritos and Cheetos. The Lays account "appears headed" to Juniper Park, Toronto. Sources said that Juniper has been doing line advertising for Frito-Lay brands (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 3/11).
QUICK DUNK: In Boston, Donna Goodison reports Dunkin' Donuts is partnering with Yahoo to "serve up quick online recaps of sports and entertainment news." Yahoo, which last month launched the Dunkin'-branded "Yahoo Sports Minute," will debut the Dunkin'-branded "Good Morning Yahoo" video segment on April 9. The "Yahoo Sports Minute" is a "daily video summary of the top sports stories," featuring host Ashley Russell on a set "flanked by the Dunkin' logo on one side and a steaming cup of Dunkin' coffee and a breakfast sandwich on the other." The weekday "Good Morning Yahoo" will include "entertainment and news-lite video clips from top news outlets." The Web site also features several Dunkin' ads (BOSTON HERALD, 3/11).
NOTES: Jones Soda reported a $10.2M Q4 loss after it spent nearly $4M to "get its products on the shelves of retailers." Jones said that while the company experienced losses in '07, it has transitioned from a "regional to a national brand and is in 15,000 outlets." The company signed a deal to serve its drinks at Qwest Field (SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER, 3/11). Jones in November also signed a seven-year deal to sponsor the Nets and the Barclays Center (THE DAILY)....WTAer Venus Williams launched EleVenbyVenus.com as the online home for all aspects of her life on and off the court, including her recently introduced EleVen by Venus Williams apparel brand (Steve & Barry's).
