Quote of the Day

"Do I like it? No, I don't like it. I think the game should just be played, (and) you shouldn't be interrupting the game with headsets and all those things."

-- Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire, on in-game interviews with TV and radio stations (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 3/11).

    Cuban Bans Bloggers From
    Mavericks' Locker Room
Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban is firing the latest shot in the battle to define sports media access in the Internet age, banning full-time bloggers from the team's locker room. The ban has drawn an official protest from the Dallas Morning News, whose reporter Tim MacMahon is the only blogger banned thus far. Morning News Deputy Managing Editor/Sports Bob Yates yesterday in an e-mail to Cuban writes the policy is a "veiled attempt at retribution'' against MacMahon. But Cuban denies the claims, writing on his blog his only motivation was "being fair to all bloggers.'' The league claims it is looking into the issue of locker room access for bloggers. Meanwhile, in a related development, MLB and the APSE are nearing an agreement to amend new press credentialing guidelines.
