St. Louis NBC Affil Solves Cardinals' Conflicts With NHL, Golf
Published March 10, 2008
KSDK-NBC in St. Louis has "made arrangements with [WRBU-MYT] to carry most of the NBC programming that will be displaced this season" by MLB Cardinals coverage on Sunday afternoons, according to Dan Caesar of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. The deal calls for WRBU to carry "all of the affected NHL coverage" and the "final round of eight golf tournaments," including the PGA Tour's Deutsche Bank Championship. That tournament did not air locally in '07, causing a "landslide of complaints," as some fans "urged a boycott" of KSDK. The net last year failed to "find another home for most of the pre-empted events," but the only broadcasts unaccounted for this year are the final round of the World Golf Championship CA Championship at Doral on March 23 and the U.S. Olympic diving trials on June 22. KSDK GM Lynn Beall said that the net will "scrap its Cardinals postgame show March 23 to show the end of Doral golf." Beall added that KSDK will "not be sending money to WRBU to show this year's spillover programming" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 3/8).
