Hatton (r) Signs With De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions

Boxer RICKY HATTON has signed with OSCAR DE LA HOYA's Golden Boy Promotions, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but HBO has been in talks with Hatton's camp "about a three-fight contract." Golden Boy promoted Hatton's December 8 10th-round knockout loss to welterweight champion FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. Hatton did "explore other options" including potentially returning to former promoter ARTIE PEULLO, but decided to stay with Golden Boy, which will partner with Hatton's promotional company, Punch Promotions. Hatton is expected to expected to return to the ring  against Golden Boy fighter JUAN LAZCANO May 24 in Manchester, England. While HBO "has close ties" to Golden Boy, the net "isn't interested in the fight, especially because it falls on Memorial Day weekend" (ESPN.com, 3/7).
