All In The Family: NBC, Johnson & Johnson Team For Olympic Effort
Published March 4, 2008
Johnson & Johnson, NBC Olympics and iVillage yesterday launched "The Family Room presented by Johnson & Johnson," a multimedia effort which will follow the journey of eight U.S. athletes preparing for the Beijing Games. The program, viewable on iVillage.com/familyroom, will center on a series of weekly webisodes, the first of which premiered Sunday. The Family Room features Olympic hopefuls Tina Ellertson (soccer); brothers Paul & Morgan Hamm (gymnastics); Reese Hoffa (track & field); Chellsie Memmel (gymnastics); siblings Steve & Katie Mocco (wrestling & judo); and Lauryn Williams (track & field). The site also includes profile pages of the athletes on the iVillage Connect social network Web site, a community forum and a fan message board (Johnson & Johnson). The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Gail Schiller reports the five- to seven-minute long shorts "will include footage and interviews captured by NBC Olympics as well as the athletes and their families via handheld cameras." The project also will include "information about J&J products." NBC said that it would air vignettes and promos across its broadcast platforms, including "Early Today," "Today," MSNBC, USA and various affils (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 3/4).
