Sporting News Moves To Charlotte; Justice To Write For Web
Published March 3, 2008
American City Business Journals (ACBJ) Chair Ray Shaw said that Sporting News is moving its magazine operations from St. Louis to ACBJ's HQs in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the PITTSBURGH BUSINESS TIMES. ACBJ in '06 acquired Sporting News and its related content from Vulcan Sports Media, and in '07 relocated SportingNews.com's online operations from St. Louis and N.Y. to Charlotte (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/29). Sporting News has been located in St. Louis since 1886 and has about 30 employees based in the city (POST-DISPATCH, 3/1). ACBJ is the parent company of Street & Smith’s Sports Group, which publishes SportsBusiness Journal and THE DAILY.
JUSTICE SERVED: Sporting News announced Houston Chronicle columnist Richard Justice, a frequent guest on ESPN's "PTI," will be writing two columns a week about baseball on SportingNews.com. Justice’s first column will appear on the site later this week. He will continue to write full time for the Houston Chronicle (THE DAILY).
