SS&E Gets Go-Ahead To Draw Plans For Hotel Complex Near Arena
Published February 7, 2008
The Broward County [FL] Commission on Tuesday gave Sunrise Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) “permission to draw up plans for a hotel, retail and condo complex next to the BankAtlantic Center,” according to the MIAMI HERALD. SS&E execs have argued the proposed complex “would allow them to draw a wider variety of events” to the arena (MIAMI HERALD, 2/6). SS&E claims without a “large pool of nearby hotel room, they’ve had trouble attracting some clients, like those looking for a place to host NCAA sporting events.” A cost estimate for the project is unknown (MIAMI HERALD, 2/5).
