Marv Albert has re-signed with TNT to stay as the net's lead play-by-play announcer through the 2015-16 NBA season. Albert will continue to work one of TNT’s two weekly games, the NBA All-Star Game and the Conference Finals. In addition, beginning with the start of the '08-09 NBA season, Albert will call additional games on NBA TV (Turner).... The White Sox have signed announcer Ken Harrelson to a three-year extension that will keep him in the broadcast booth through 2011 (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 2/6)....Boston’s WHDH-NBC has hired Julie Donaldson, who left SportsNet N.Y. two weeks ago, as a sports reporter and anchor. She will report from Red Sox spring training beginning on February 13 (N.Y. POST, 2/3).
SEATTLE'S BEST: FSN Northwest will air more than 150 Mariners games this season, all of which will be available in HD. Last year, FSN aired about 107 games and local broadcast stations carried a package of 30 additional games. This year, every game will either appear on FSN or as part of Fox’ national package (FSN).
CAGED HEAT: Versus is planning to telecast its next edition of “World Extreme Cagefighting” on February 13 at 9:00pm ET from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The net’s last WEC telecast on December 12 pulled a 0.7 coverage area rating (629,447 HHs), making it the most-watched program in that Wednesday 9:00-11:15pm time slot in the network’s history in all key male demos (John Ourand, THE DAILY).
