    Katz Gains Control Of Oilers
After numerous efforts to gain control of the Oilers, it appears Daryl Katz is finally about to achieve his goal, as the 34-member Edmonton Investors Group agrees to sell him 100% of its shares. The Oilers would become the third NHL team in four months to change hands, as Katz could take control of the club in as few as six weeks, pending the NHL’s approval of his C$200M bid. With the Canadian dollar continuing to gain strength, teams in Canada have become some of the NHL's most stable. Katz’ ownership could propel the club into the league’s elite in terms of revenue. The Oilers have recently had trouble keeping star players from leaving, but the NATIONAL POST's Mark Spector notes a “hip, younger owner in Katz would be more likely to make the team more attractive to today’s player.”
