British Airways Named Tier One Partner For London 2012 Games

LOCOG today officially announced that British Airways will serve as a Tier One Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, with British Airways now becoming the official airline partner. The airline will have marketing rights to the London 2012 Games and provide flights to athletes for the Beijing Games this summer and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games (LOCOG). BLOOMBERG NEWS' Steven Downes reports the deal is worth US$78.7M. British Airways becomes is the fourth Tier One partner to be announced in eight categories, following Lloyds TSB, EDF Energy and adidas in banking, utilities and sportswear, respectively. LOCOG is also expected to name Tier One sponsors in the telecommunications, oil and gas, automotive and clothing and homeware categories (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 2/5).
