Wheels & Deals: Garmin To Sponsor Elliott Sadler's Ride
Published February 29, 2008
Garmin Int'l will be the primary sponsor of the Gillett Evernham Motorsports No. 19 Sprint Cup Dodge entry driven by Elliott Sadler for the June 1 race at Dover Int'l Speedway and the September 28 race at Kansas Speedway. The company will serve as an associate sponsor for all other races. The deal marks the second consecutive year Garmin is partnering with Best Buy Racing, which is Sadler's primary sponsor for the majority of the season (Garmin).
ON THE MARCO: Meijer will expand its sponsorship deal with IRL driver Marco Andretti, as the company will be the primary sponsor on Andretti Green Racing's No. 26 car for races at Kentucky Speedway and The Raceway at Belle Isle this year. The chain will serve as an associate sponsor for all other races (Meijer).
ROYAL HONOR: The May 3 Sprint Cup race at Richmond Int'l Raceway will be known as the Crown Royal Presents The Dan Lowry 400. Lowry won the "Your Name Here" contest sponsored by Crown Royal, which drew about 10,000 total submissions (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 2/29).
TOSSING IT AROUND: Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) President Eddie Gossage is offering any NASCAR Sprint Cup driver who throws his race helmet $15,000 in an attempt to "increase the buzz" around the April 6 Samsung 500 at TMS. He said that the helmet "must be tossed in anger on the 'field of competition.'" While admitting the bonus was a "tongue-in-cheek offer, he said he would definitely pay." NASCAR officials did not comment (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 2/29).
