Quote of the Day

The first thing is that anyone expecting unification to be some magic bullet has probably got it wrong."

    Huizenga Selling 50% Of
    Dolphins To Stephen Ross

After denying reports late last year that he was close to selling a stake in the Dolphins, Wayne Huizenga announces he is selling a 50% interest in the club to developer Stephen Ross for $550M. Huizenga will initially maintain control of the team, but a source claims a transfer of power to Ross could happen “within the next year or two.” Citing his age, the 70-year-old Huizenga claims he suggested the 50-50 split, saying, “We don’t need some old guy limping around here trying to run this franchise.” The move clearly marks the beginning of the end of Huizenga’s influence on the South Florida sporting landscape. For Ross, who went to high school in Miami, the deal allows him eventually to run the franchise he watched growing up.
