BOCOG Makes More Tickets Available To National Committees
Published February 14, 2008
BOCOG, in response to complaints from national Olympic committees over the amount of tickets allotted to them, has now made "a total of 1 million tickets available" for the Beijing Olympics, an increase of about 250,000 over plans announced last spring, according to Mark Bisson of AROUND THE RINGS. Association of National Olympic Committees Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg said, "We can never satisfy everybody because of the big interest for Beijing, but I think at least everyone has received the same ticket allocation as the previous summer Games." Lindberg said that there are "still ticketing issues for swimming competitions at Beijing's Water Cube." Lindberg: "With swimming it's a catastrophe," noting that there is a "smaller than expected number of tickets" due to the configuration of the venue (AROUNDTHERINGS.com, 2/13).
