Blues Traveler: Club Announces Ticket Price Increases For '08-09
Published February 13, 2008
Blues Owner Dave Checketts announced ticket prices for the '08-09 season "will increase an average of 3.5[%]," according to Jeremy Rutherford of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. The average increase per ticket will be $1.50, but "some prices will increase dramatically," including those in the first four rows as well as $7 tickets jumping to $10. The Blues have requested season-ticket renewals to be in by March 2. Checketts said a ticket increase "is necessary to build a winning team and reach his goal of breaking even" in his third year of ownership. Rutherford notes Checketts took over ownership of the Blues in '06 and raised ticket prices an average of 10%, "causing many who were left in the fan base to turn away." Checketts countered that by decreasing prices 8% this season, "a move that certainly factored in the team's 55[%] increase in attendance" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/13).
