Storm Front: Tampa AFL Team Increasing Marketing Plans
Published January 31, 2008
The AFL Storm have made a billboard campaign in the greater Tampa area the “centerpiece of a new $750,000 marketing and business initiative aimed at luring more fans to games without having to give away free tickets, as was the practice in past seasons,” according to Alan Snel of the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES. Storm Owner Bob Nucci launched the $250,000 campaign, which will include tie-ins to his Nucci Spinal Institute, “in hopes of generating more revenue.” Meanwhile, recently hired President & COO Jim Borghesi, Nucci’s cousin, is working with local retailers “to increase wall and shelf space for Storm merchandise.” Borghesi said that “more space at the St. Pete Times Forum will also be reserved” to sell Storm items. Nucci added that he has hired five additional full-time employees “to work on Storm business and marketing efforts” (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 1/31).
