Howl At The Moon: Coyotes Ink Deal With PGA Tour's Jeff Quinney
Published January 30, 2008
The Coyotes have agreed to a one-year sponsorship deal with PGA Tour member Jeff Quinney to wear a shirt featuring the team's logo during Tour events this year. Swift Transportation Co., Inc., as part of the deal, will appear on Quinney's shirt at select Tour stops (Coyotes). SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Jon Show reports financial terms were not available, but Coyotes President & COO Doug Moss "called an estimate of low-to-mid-six figures 'not too far off.''' The deal "is believed to be the first in which a team has directly signed a golfer.'' Quinney will play in golf outings with Coyotes season-ticket holders and "potential buyers of corporate sponsorships or suites." He also will appear on the team's Web site, aid in charitable drives, and "occasionally drop the ceremonial puck before home games" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/28 issue). Quinney said, "They wanted a young and up-and-coming guy. That's kinda what they're all about" (EAST VALLEY TRIBUNE, 1/30).
