Navigation Co. Adds Cycling Team To Growing List Of Sponsorships
Published January 29, 2008
Kansas-based Garmin Int'l announced yesterday it will sponsor Slipstream Sports, which is "likely to be racing in this summer's Tour de France," according to David Hayes of the K.C. STAR. Slipstream riders will use the company's bicycle computer, the Edge 705, and support vehicles will use their Nuvi 770 navigators. Slipstream is primarily an American team "that requires its riders to undergo stringent and frequent drug tests" and could potentially be the only U.S. team in this year's Tour de France. The deal is the "latest in a growing list of individuals, teams or events" for Garmin, which also sponsors the NASCAR Haas CNC Racing team and English Premier League club Middlesbrough FC (K.C. STAR, 1/29).
