In Ft. Worth, Andrea Ahles reported the Cowboys' new Arlington stadium could be without a naming-rights deal in part because sports marketing analysts note large corporations "may hesitate to sign a sponsorship deal for hundreds of millions of dollars while stock prices are tumbling." Sources have estimated the team could get between $10-18M a year for 30-year naming rights for the stadium. Bonham Group President Rob Vogel: "It's going to be a tough few years for the economy in general, and that is adding to the Cowboys' issues in terms of getting a deal done." Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones said that he has "no timetable for making a deal," and Ahles noted the club is focused on other "long-term corporate commitments," including naming American Airlines the team's official airline (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 1/28).
LOUISVILLE ARENA: HOK Sport unveiled the first renderings of the new downtown Louisville arena’s corporate suites and luxury seats, as well as a view of the arena’s lower bowl, which “features a largely red-and-black color scheme and an overhead scoreboard.” An “illuminated display panel rings the inside of the arena, separating the lower and upper bowls” (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 1/29).
NOTES: SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL'S Don Muret reports that naming rights consultants claim that the naming rights to Wrigley Field could sell "for anywhere from [$5-11M] annually" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/28 issue)....Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works are among the first tenants confirmed for the new Glorypark development near Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/25 issue).
