NOTES: More than 108 million people tuned in to watch at least part of the college bowl games this season. Among the 32 bowl games, the BCS Championship game had the largest average audience with 23.0 million viewers. At the same time, a telephone survey of self-proclaimed college football fans also reported that 51% of fans agreed there should be a playoff tournament to determine the championship team (Nielsen)….Chargers-Patriots earned a 44.0 rating in the San Diego market, which was second nationally behind a 44.3 in Boston. The ratings for the Giants-Packers in San Diego was a 22.0, far below the national average of a 29.0 (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 1/25).
