Think Of Me Once In A While: adidas Lands Cincinnati Football
Published January 16, 2008
The Univ. of Cincinnati (UC) has inked a four-year agreement with adidas "to supply apparel and footwear to the UC football team" starting next season, according to Bill Koch of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. With the new football contract, "all 18 of UC's sports will be affiliated with adidas as part of an $11.5[M] compensation deal, $3.4[M] of which goes to the football program, or roughly $825,000 per year." UC Senior Associate AD Mike Waddell said that the school's previous football deal with Nike, which expired in '07, was worth $90,000 a year. As part of the adidas deal, the football team will unveil "newly designed uniforms" at the annual spring game April 26 at Nippert Stadium. Football coach Brian Kelly will receive $100,000 a year under the adidas contract, while basketball coach Mick Cronin will receive $110,000 (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 1/16).
