Watch Mor Chickin: 7.5 Million Viewers For Chick-Fil-A Bowl

ESPN earned a 5.1 coverage area rating for its New Year's Eve telecast of the Chick-fil-A Bowl featuring Auburn-Clemson, up 6.3% from a 4.8 coverage area rating in '06 for Georgia-Virginia Tech, which aired on December 30. The game averaged 7.5 million viewers, tops for any bowl game on cable this season, and a 16.0% increase from last year's game. The December 27 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl featuring Texas-Arizona State averaged the second-highest number of viewers with 5.7 million, up 13.0% from last year's California-Texas A&M matchup. On ESPN2, the Papajohns.com Bowl featuring Cincinnati-Southern Miss proved to be the net's top bowl, averaging 2.2 million viewers, up 41.6% from the inaugural game featuring South Florida-East Carolina last year. The NFL Network once again aired two college bowl games, with the Insight Bowl featuring Oklahoma State-Indiana leading the way with 698,000 viewers.
