Stash The Gumbo: Louisiana Tourism Ads Feature Basketball Icons
Published January 10, 2008
A new tourism ad campaign for New Orleans, the result of a partnership between the Louisiana state government and the NBA, features Louisiana natives and former NBAers Willis Reed and Karl Malone, as well as Hornets G Chris Paul. The campaign is part of the Louisiana Office of Tourism’s “My Louisiana” theme featuring well-known state personalities. Spots will run on NBA television broadcasts and on Sirius Satellite Radio beginning later this month and will continue throughout ’08. To view the TV ad, visit SportsBusinessDaily.com (Louisiana). In New Orleans, Jaquetta White reports the $6M campaign will also include print ads that will run in national and regional magazines such as National Geographic Traveler, Ladies Home Journal, Midwest Traveler and Southern Living. The TV ad will appear in the N.Y., L.A., Chicago, S.F., Dallas, Atlanta and Houston markets. All ads will begin running after the February 17 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 1/10).
