Golf Channel Extends Exclusive Rights To European Tour
Published December 19, 2007
Comcast-owned Golf Channel has reached a seven-year deal with the European Tour to remain the exclusive home for the Tour's event telecasts in the U.S., Canada and Japan through 2014. No financial terms were disclosed. The deal is effective immediately, and Golf Channel will televise a minimum of 32 European Tour events annually. In addition, the partnership gives Golf Channel the Tour's Internet and wireless rights, as well as exclusive broadcast rights in Japan to show the 2010 and 2014 Ryder Cups, both set to be played in Europe. Golf Channel also has the option to air the magazine show "European Tour Weekly" (Golf Channel).
