Univ. Of Washington AD TODD TURNER resigned yesterday, effective January 31. UW President MARK EMMERT said that Turner’s resignation “was not anchored to any one factor," including issues surrounding the renovation of Husky Stadium (SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER, 12/12). Emmert also said that the decision to retain football coach TYRONE WILLINGHAM “had little to do with Turner’s departure" (SEATTLE TIMES, 12/12).

FRANCHISES: The Predators have named Exec VP/Finance & Administration ED LANG to the newly-formed position of President of Business Operations. Lang will assume many of the responsibilities previously held by former Exec VP/Business Affairs STEVE VIOLETTA, who joined the Red Wings as Senior VP/Business Affairs on Monday. GM DAVID POILE has added President of Hockey Operations to his title (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 12/12)….MARTY GREENSPUN has rejoined the Yankees front office after resigning as Dodgers COO last month. He previously served as Yankees VP & CFO before joining the Dodgers in ’04 (L.A. TIMES, 12/12)…. Packers Historian and longtime PR Dir LEE REMMEL is retiring, effective December 31, after 34 years with the team. Remmel also covered the Packers for 28 years for the Green Bay Press-Gazette (PRESS-GAZETTE, 12/12)….The Reds named MICHAEL ANDERSON PR Manager. For the past six years, Anderson was Public Information Officer at the Univ. of Cincinnati’s Hoxworth Blood Center (Reds).

NAMES: Golf Channel has hired TODD LEWIS as an on-air personality. Lewis had been freelancing for the network and previously served as Sports Dir of WKMG-CBS in Orlando. Lewis will begin as a “Golf Central” anchor and reporter at PGA Tour events (Jon Show, SportsBusiness Journal)....TSN promoted Senior Marketing Manager SHAWN REDMOND to VP/Marketing, where he will oversee consumer marketing (TSN)....FSN South and SportSouth named Atlanta Motor Speedway Senior Sponsorship Manager GREG HARVEY Account Exec (FSN)....NATHALIE LAMBERT was named to the volunteer position of Chef de Mission for the 2010 Vancouver Games (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 12/11)....USA Football named CURTIS CONWAY its Southern California event organizer (USA Football).
