Kids-Sized Green Jacket: Masters Offers Children Free Admission
Published December 7, 2007
The Masters beginning next year will admit kids aged 8-16 free on Thursday-Sunday of tournament week when accompanied by a patron whose name is on the event's badge application. Meanwhile, Augusta National Chair Billy Payne announced that ESPN will broadcast The Masters' Par 3 Contest on April 9 from 3:00-5:00pm ET. The event, annually held the Wednesday prior to the tournament, has never before been televised (THE DAILY). Payne "believes young fans will be inspired by seeing the world's best players compete on the famed Augusta National course." PGA Tour member Billy Andrade said Payne "is the perfect man for the job. He's energetic, positive and has great ideas. And letting kids in is pretty cool" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 12/7).
