Skating Into First: AT&T Park Installs Temporary Public Ice Rink
Published December 3, 2007
The MLB Giants have installed a 60-foot by 120-foot ice rink on the infield at AT&T Park that is open to the public, “believed to be the first time a [MLB] ballpark has doubled as a public ice rink,” according to Janie McCauley of the AP. The team is charging $20 for adults to skate, $15 for children and $5 to enter the ballpark and watch. Fans can buy $40 unlimited-use passes until the rink closes on December 9. The rink “serves as a promotion for the ‘Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular’” starring Barry Manilow, which will be held at the ballpark on Wednesday (AP, 12/2).
