Manufacturers' Sales Of Team Sports Equipment in '06

Sales of baseball and softball equipment continued to rise in '06, up 6% from the year before and 51% over the last decade, according to SGMA's most recent report on U.S. Trends in Team Sports. The sale of bats was the biggest contributor, bringing in around $213M last year, up 18% from '05, while sales of protective gear saw the biggest increase, up 35% to $72M. Soccer equipment sales were also up in '06, bringing in $300M, while basketball sales saw a decline, off 8.6%. The following presents manufacturers' sales of teams sports equipment from '06, with comparisons to '05, as well to the past decade (SGMA).
