Dick’s Sporting Goods has acquired California-based Chick’s Sporting Goods, a privately-held 14-store chain, for about $71M, according to Rick Stouffer of the Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW. Chick’s annual sales total about $100M, compared with Dick’s FY ’06 revenues of over $3.1B. Chick’s employs over 1,400 people. Dick's “projects it will open” 90 stores in California, and its goal is to operate 800 U.S. stores “within about seven years” (Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 11/27).
