In San Jose, Mike Swift wrote the 49ers' plan for a new $854M stadium in Santa Clara is approaching a “crucial fork in the road: Does Santa Clara’s city council agree to take the project forward?” The month of December “should provide an answer, and there appears to be a core of support on the council to move on to the next phase -- when the city would try to negotiate a deal with the 49ers and send it to voters.” Santa Clara Mayor Patricia Mahan said, “I am optimistic” (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/26)....The NHL Panthers want to add a third NHL-sized rink as well as a new 12,000-14,000-square-foot training facility exclusively for the team at its Incredible ICE facility. As part of the deal, which is in negotiations, the Panthers would build a recreational facility next door for the public (Lisa Huriash, South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 11/26)....The Dodgers will play an exhibition game against the Red Sox at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum on March 29. The game will benefit ThinkCure, the Dodgers’ official charity (Dodgers).
