Brennaman, Davis To Again Pair For BCS Championship Game
Published November 26, 2007
Thom Brennaman and Charles Davis will pair up to call both the Sugar Bowl and the BCS National Championship Game for Fox' BCS coverage this season, according to Michael Hiestand of USA TODAY. Univ. of Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez, who worked with Brennaman and Davis on the Fiesta Bowl and BCS title game last year, will work with Kenny Albert and Daryl Johnston during coverage of the Orange Bowl. Matt Vasgersian, Pat Haden and Terry Donahue will again work together, moving from the Orange Bowl last year to the Fiesta Bowl. Meanwhile, Fox has the exclusive rights to first announce the BCS standings each week, but CBS’ Kevin Harlan during Bills-Jaguars yesterday “casually mentioned Missouri had moved up to No. 1 in the BCS -- about 40 minutes before Fox announced it. Pretty big scoop to treat so casually” (USA TODAY, 11/26).
A SOUTHERN THING: CBS earned a 5.1/11 overnight Nielsen rating for Arkansas’ triple-overtime win against No. 1-ranked LSU Friday afternoon, a 50.0% increase over the same game last year, which earned a 3.4/8 overnight. The conclusion of the game peaked at a 9.1 rating. The net’s coverage of the Tennessee-Kentucky four-overtime game on Saturday, which peaked at 7.5, earned a 3.7/9 overnight mark for the entire game, just a 2.8% increase over Georgia Tech-Georgia last year, which aired from 3:30-7:00pm ET (THE DAILY).
