Kraft Foods will run a 30-second spot during Fox’ coverage of Super Bowl XLII for its Planters brand. Diamond Foods’ Emerald Nuts will not run an ad during the game after doing so the past three years (USA TODAY, 11/26).
NOTES: In Milwaukee, Don Walker reported the Bucks are close to finalizing a sponsorship deal with China-based sporting goods company Peak Group, the “first time the Bucks have been able to capitalize on the team’s signing of Yi Jianlian.” While the deal is not complete, an ad with the Peak logo is on a courtside rotational board at the Bradley Center (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/24)....In N.Y., Stuart Elliott writes, "As strange as it is for brewers and distillers to sponsor auto racing how much stranger is it that representatives of the Coors Light brand sold by Molson Coors gave away keychains with can and bottle openers, decorated with Coors Light Racing logos, in a bar?” (N.Y. TIMES, 11/26)….Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia has signed an endorsement deal with Massachusetts-based Sullivan Tire. His family owns Valley Tire Center in Woodland, California (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/25).
